With rooms and suites with privileged views of the falls, the exclusive Red Level service, exquisite international cuisine and a unique location will make your stay an unforgettable experience.
Without doubt, the Melia Iguazu really has the pick of the views of all the lodges and hotels of the area , being located right in the Parque Nacional, it is afforded views over the falls themselves. This is also a benefit as, when the park opens, it is possible to wander out to the falls before the main crowds arrive and so having a privileged access.
Everything in the Melia Iguazu is geared towards that famous view…the main entrance hall has been converted into two stories in order to allow for double height glass windows and…the view. The rooms that face the falls all have balconies and…the view. The swimming pool, the restaurant and the central lobby also all point out to…the view….and the view is spectacular!
With only a ten minute walk to the falls and another ten on the small funicular railway to the Devil’s mouth this is the perfect place to stay if you really want to absorb as much as possible of the falls themselves (rather than the region around the falls)

2. Our Brazil Side Consideration was – THE BELMOND HOTEL DAS CATARATAS – BRAZIL SIDE OF FALLS – but for the reasons we mention below, we choose the “GRAN MELIA IGUAZA” Argentina Side
Owned and managed by the Belmond chain, Hotel das Cataratas is the only alternative to the Melia Hotel that has views to the Brazil falls
The first thing that strikes you when you walk up to the Belmond Hotel das Cataratas is that it is pink! This is part of what has made the hotel famous over the years and, with the new management and ownership, they have decided to keep it as such. In fact, the new owners have decided to pretty much keep the hotel as it originally was, with a grand and elegant entrance hall, elegant furnishings and decadent desertion throughout the hotel.
The Belmond Hotel das Cataratas is within throwing distance of the main balconies that look out to the falls themselves and so it is a privileged position to be able to wander out in the morning , as the day wears on the area becomes busier and busier.
We have Experienced this AMAZING ADVENTURE approx. 5 years ago & we found it was Best to stay on the Argentina side & also inside the National park as there is a LOT more to see & do and need the most time for. It takes a minimum FULL DAY & more.
We can easily arrange a 1/2 day tour to the Brazil side & see the Brazil Waterfall, there is really not much else to see on the Brazil Side. The Tour buses stop & park by the Belmond hotel property at the Brazil falls entrance.
There are also Border customs to deal with when we cross over between Argentina & Brazil & it is time consuming with the volume of travelers. Since we will be flying in & out of the airport on the Argentina side (IGR) from & back to Buenos Aires it is really best to stay on the Argentina side.
Certain Citizenships will need a Brazil Visa to cross into Brazil & this can be obtained by a simple online application. “See link below for details”
FYI – RETURN FLIGHT FROM ARGENTINA to Iguazú Falls (IGR) Argentina – Not available to book yet! Below are current Flight times for March 2021 to get an idea.
Our dates will be in March 2022 & times may vary
